InanaName: Inana Size: Inanas are considered tiny; Roughly 6 inches in diameter when the flower is fully opened and 3 inches high. Region: They can only be seen in the arctic parts of Elysia. Lifespan: Inanas are perennial plants that bloom for two seasons then die for another two seasons. Once plucked, however, the flower instantly withers and die. AppearanceA fully bloomed flower is 6 inches in diameter and, including the stalk, is 3 inches high. The stalk, surprisingly, is made of crystallized ice and just as fragile. However, on closer inspection, thin opaque veins could be seen inside the stalk where the nutrients absorbed by the plant is believed to pass through. The flower changes color depending on the cycles of the moons Neme and Selene. When Neme is at its fullest, the color is a rich blue hue and as Selene takes its peak, the color slowly changes to a purple hue. However, every 20 years when Neme and Selene align with each other, the color changes to a vibrant blood red. BehaviourAside from the very unlikely place in which they could survive, the inana is just your ordinary flowering plant. Diet: N/A Habitat: The inana thrives under extreme cold elements which is why they are only found in the arctic regions. Reproduction: The inana germinates, flowers, and dies like most other flowering plants. However its seed differs from most of them with it being more of a gelatinous substance than the normal solid seed. When the flower is nearing the last of its season, moisture accumulates at the flower's petals forming the seed. As the flower dies, the seeds drop to the ground which would eventualy form crystalized stalks and new flowers to bloom. Special InformationStrengths/Abilities: N/A Weaknesses: N/A Uses: N/A Origin: No one knows where exactly the inana came from. Due to the extreme weather conditions in which they thrive and the fragility of the plants themselves, any further research has not been made. Some people speculate however, that it was Xanth's attempt to beautify the icy deserts by giving it color and life. Other Info: Creator: Amber Page last modified on September 29, 2010, at 02:20 PM |
