GurellName: Gurell Size: Medium Region: Grassland Lifespan: One season (approx. three months) AppearanceThe Gurell remains green throughout its season. The main stem is broadest by the roots and thinnest by the tip with buds of white growing out at the sides. A new variation has lately been discovered of a Gurell with green buds. BehaviourThe grass is notably present in fields exposed and unhindered to the sun and tend to bend to its direction. They give off a sour scent during their prime, a period the farmers identify by the slippery hide they have come to possess. Habitat: So far, no species of the Gurell are found in any other grasslands aside from the Fae Forest and it is seen to only live during the spring season of the region. Although it depends greatly on the sun, the summer leaves it with very little water to live on. Uses: The Gurell is a popular ingredient of making alcoholic drinks among the residents of the Fae Forest. It may also be added to cooked food but cannot be eaten raw as the grains possess a bitter taste and are said to cause digestive problems. The stems of the grass are also used to weave mats, hats and soft baskets among many others. Origin: The Gurell has long been around and has little to nothing written of its history but a popular children's folklore is the story of how the goddess Xanth created the first Gurell from a strand of her hair as a reward to an honest nymph child who returned to her a precious object. The object in the story varies from her wings to her comb to other fine jewelries and is normally told to children as a lesson on honesty and faith.
