Name: Blue Willow

Size: Large to huge, usually between five and eight feet tall.

Region: Grassland and some dryer marshland

Lifespan: The tree can survive almost indefinitely.

Appearance

A somewhat small tree, the spread of the blue willow's branches usually only reaches a maximum of eight feet in height but can spread up to fifteen feet in diameter.

Inside the tree's perimeter, the willow's supple branches are exposed and bare, with most of the leaves drooping from the tips to form a curtain. These leaves appear year-round but change colour subtlely from a darker blue in summer to a paler, icier blue in winter.

Special Information

Weaknesses: The blue willow is vulnerable to extreme temperatures.

Uses:

  • The blue willow has medicinal properties, appearing in:
    • Blue Willow Tea is a tisane and is used as a painkiller. It's not particularly strong but the elderly often use it to combat the general aches and pains of age.
    • A blue willow compress is known to heal superficial cuts and bruises. It can also speed up the curative powers of arnica and chiolen when combined in a poultice.
  • Blue Willow Tea is also a popular beverage, famed simply for its unique and tangy taste.
