Mali is a small Skotadi town in a lush little valley in the Dusky Mountains. Near the equator, it is a much warmer place than most other Anyeli towns, and that along with the abundance of raw materials on the town's penumbra make it a very appealing target for the Apali during the various periods of Civil War.

In 9,562 XA, the Apali moved on the town. They were fought off by a small squadron led by the town's swain, Hari Katsaros, who died later during Dimitri's War. Their celebrations quickly became bathos, however, when the town fathomed the damage.

Mali was rebuilt (several times, in fact) but it has been the victim of several attacks since, and much of it is in ruins. Its fame also comes not from the natural resources or its ability to fend off those attacks, but from a well-known rhyme, Mali Valley.
