Library Of AlexandriaShaped like a fat cross surrounded by a green park, and one of New Alexandria's taller buildings at three storeys (as well as one of very few libraries in the whole of Elysia) the Libary of Alexandria is the place to go if you're looking for something to read. It is stocked with all manner of rare and hand-scribed tomes and scrolls, as well as a few of the more "modern" small prints1. Ravenwood shelves line the white marble walls, and the thick scarlet carpets are rimmed with gold. To keep up with the times, a small section of the library was given over to HoPCs and data crystals roughly forty years ago, granting access to much more information via the CORWW for much fewer xanthai than the scribes can promise. Despite this, there are still plenty of Elysians who prefer the touch and scent of a book, and so the Great Library is still in much demand even though few of the books — most especially the hand-scribed ones — can be checked out. 1 While the Library of Alexandria may be well-stocked, books in general are extremely rare and expensive. This means two things: Very few of the books are allowed to leave the premises; and there is the Town Guard has a constant presence. ⇑ Page last modified on June 20, 2011, at 07:57 AM |
