Encyclopaedia Elysia | Places / Lernaea's Temple

An abandoned temple dedicated to a false prophet by the name of Lernaea, miles away from civilization in the middle of the Scorpion Desert. The temple lays mostly in rubble, though a few of the temple's idols remain miraculously untouched.

Discovered in 9951 XA, the meager amount of research done on Lernaea's Temple has identified its building date at approximately 6013 XA. The temple was built entirely out of stone, right down to the pews (some of which still remain), though the desert's harsh winds and numerous looters have left its ground level bereft of very much detail. However, there is a basement located at the back of the temple that leads to a series of catacombs that themselves connect to numerous subterranean shrines. Much of the catacombs and underground shrines remain unexplored, and the few expeditions that have made it out have revealed that much of the temple's underground terrain have been gentrified by a great deal of Giant Scorpions.

After so many failed expeditions, the amount of people willing to venture into its dark depths have lessened dramatically, causing the temple to fall into myth and legend as less and less people are alive whom actually know how to find it. The only landmark that aids explorers in finding the temple is a damaged pillar upon which stands a six-headed serpentine idol, the symbol of Lernaea, whose only remaining appendage (an arm) is pointing in the temple's direction.
