Isle of Shadows

Once a part of the Chandric Forest, this small isle has become the source of multiple supposedly supernatural occurrences. Named for the thick shadows that cling to its surface and haze the air around it for miles, the Isle of Shadows is rumored to be a place of nightmares.

The few exhibitions that have traveled to the isle and back have reported feelings of being watched from somewhere in the gloom. Supposedly their equipment was meddled with by an unknown source, and the darkness around them seemed to coalesce and move on its own. All visitors that have dared to set foot upon the cursed place have left its shores changed. Sometimes the alterations are for the better, such as a greater appreciation for the bright things in life when compared to the isle's stark environment, but the most common side effects of a visit to the Isle of Shadows are depression and seclusion.

Getting to the Isle of Shadows is difficult due to the mist-like umbra that surrounds it coupled by its distance from the mainland. Sunlight only somewhat penetrates the cover, and irregularly at that. If an interested party is able to locate a guide and transportation, then they will still face the challenges of the island itself. The edges of the isle are rocky and dangerous. There is a dock that was erected by its first recorded explorers, but over the years the mostly wooden structure has moldered and become unstable.

Due to the lack of access to the sun, only plants that thrive in darkness grow upon the isle. Some of the rarer examples of plants are exclusive to the island's unique atmosphere, which is in part why folk still seek it out despite the many dangers.
