The Ruins of DelkorOnce a bastion of defense for the Apali, Fort Delkor was made into rubble by an experimental crystal powered explosive in the middle of the Anyeli Civil War. What remains of the ruins is in the heights of the Dusky Mountains, approximately 200 miles northeast of the settlement of Agraia. The legend of Delkor, the Apali general that ordered the creation of the fort, notes that he took a Skotadi wife during the construction, and divorced her soon after the Civil War began. Some say it was Delkor's spurned ex-wife that was responsible for the fort's destruction. The ruins have gained interest in more recent decades due to a trio of unmarked cairns. They sit in a half circle at what's been calculated to be roughly the center of what used to be Fort Delkor's largest chamber. It's been proven that the cairns were made using stones that were a part of the fort when it was still standing, and historians have concluded their creation was sometime during the last leg of the Civil War. Apali come to honor the unnamed dead on a week long journey that ends at the ruins on the day that the Peace Treaties were signed. Offerings of flowers, fruit, and other small gifts are commonly left on or around the cairns during such times. Page last modified on May 04, 2012, at 01:27 PM |
