Colossus Of AlexandriaJust over one hundred feet tall, the Colossus of Alexandria is actually a lighthouse shaped like an obelisk, but the sheer size gave it the nickname which stuck throughout the centuries. Built on the west shore of the River Cora in New Alexandria, halfway between the city's walls, the obelisk was constructed from three massive blocks of white stone that was brought in from the Dusky Mountains. Before the obelisk's erection, a large hole was gouged out of the stone just beneath the pyramid-shaped needle at the top, where now sits the largest shevrock ever unearthed, and it is this which lights the path for the docks and the river's traffic. Over time, changes were made to the erected obelisk, which was originally just plain stone. A stairway had already been wrapped around the colossal structure, gouged out of the stone by masons, for when the shevrock needed maintenance, and these spiralling steps were put to good use as subsequent generations carved in the faces of Alexshire's heroes. They also inscribed the stone with Elysian script that details the shire's more dramatic history. Now, the lighthouse not only serves a functional purpose but stands proud as a monument as well.
