Alexandria's Bell TowerThe bell tower in New Alexandria is one of the tallest structures in the city at six storeys, but very narrow — with barely enough room for a spiral staircase on the inside, a large bronze bell at the top, and a crow's nest above it for the watchmen. It serves as an alarm in the event of fire or (historically) invasion, as well as a call to arms for the City Guard and hunters if there are felons on the loose or monsters to be killed. The bell is so well-made, and the sound it produces so clear, that its ringing can be hard at the far edges of Alexandria. Page last modified on June 20, 2011, at 08:06 AM |
