The Ruins of Aischylos

Aischylos was a merchant outpost built roughly 100 miles from the foot of the Dardanian mountains. Mostly warehouses and temporary accommodations, with a few Nymphs filtering through on their way to outlying communes, Aischylos was a stopping-off point for the caravans travelling to and from Marport on their way to picking up farming and mining produce.

Disaster struck the tiny settlement when Mount Lugos (a constantly simmering but usually docile volcano) and three of its neighbours erupted in a spectacular show of ash and magmatic fireworks that could be seen as far away as Espur (some 1500 miles). There were no survivors.

Aischylos could have been rebuilt, but the eruption — having destroyed the four original volcanoes and merged them into two larger, capless peaks — is still ongoing 50 years later, though thankfully to a much lesser degree.
