Sect Of The Dragon

THE SECT OF THE DRAGON
AKA: The Dragon Sect, Dimitri's Cult, Anti-Xanthians
Leader: Vasilios Tryphon
Races: Any
HQ: Hesia

The Sect of the Dragon was founded on the belief that Dimitri Koraceb was not merely an Aide but a god in his own right. Led originally by Calum Aitken, and by Dimitri himself behind the scenes, their ambition was to be rid of Xanth altogether and to take over the world.

Dimitri's War saw them fail in that goal, and it has only been in recent decades that the Sect was allowed to fully reform. Until that time, they were forced to hide their religious beliefs for fear of being punished for their ancestors' war crimes (and their own, since some of the Sect's original members are still alive).

Politics

The Sect is now led by Vasilios Tryphon, an Anyelos orphan who joined the Anti-Xanthians when he lost his entire family — twice. Believing Xanth to be a cruel god, or at the very least disinterested, he was loud in his dissent and eventually drew the attention of the Sect's members, who invited him into their midst in secrecy.

Due to the Sect's small numbers and need for anonymity, its members are divided into cells. Each cell has its own purpose — ranging from the fairly passive (defacing statues of Xanth) to the violent (killing Priests) — and a senior member who makes the decisions. He alone answers to Tryphon so that, even if captured or interrogated, cultists can't lead the law to the other members.

In exchange, only Tryphon knows where each cell is located, their purpose, and their leaders.

Relations

The Sect of the Dragon is a bad memory for many Elysians after Dimitri's War, and most of the original members were wanted by the law for war crimes. Forced to hide since they no longer have the numbers — or their god — to back them up, the Sect's members, in public, are just average citizens trying to get by.

In private, however, they machinate the downfall of Xanth and her Children, and spend most of their time trying to locate Dimitri in the belief that he is caged somewhere awaiting an opportunity for escape. They hate other Elysians with almost as much passion as they hate Xanth.

Territories

The Sect has cells scattered across the continent, and some individuals in other realms as well, so they have no central headquarters or official territories. However, Tryphon treats his own home in Hesia as their headquarters, meeting cell leaders, whenever necessary, in his warehouse in the dead of night.

History

Joining

You don't find the Sect of the Dragon: They find you. Joining has to be as secret as everything else they do — which is unfortunate, because they really need the numbers and support.

But don't worry. If you're loud enough about your hatred for Xanth, you'll be approached sooner or later, although you probably won't know about it until they've already decided you'd be an asset.

Known Members

Please use the list format above to include a list of the *player characters* that are members of, or associated with, your organisation (eg. "* Piper Kin").

Replace the # in the pagelist markup with the tag fo your organisation (eg. "BlackRose" to get "

". This should then list all the NPCs and ONPCs that have that tag on their profile (so don't forget to tag them!).
