Cael OisínName: Cael Oisín Gender: Male Age: 43 Occupation: The Marshal of Alexshire Organisation: Alexshire Council Description: Cael was once well kept with a freshly pressed uniform courtesy of his wife, Layla, a close shave and neatly trimmed russet hair. He took his appearance seriously, ensuring he never once left the house unkempt, and he took pride in maintaining a healthy figure. Even when he was past his prime, Cael could outpace many of the younger Guardsmen, and even though he was embarrassed by the salt that was beginning to pepper through his once-brown hair, he refused to make any vain attempts to conceal his age. Cael has been a member of Alexshire's City Guard since he was a young man fresh from the Caverns with an even younger wife in tow. Despite the concerns of their clan, the pair immediately took to city life and thrived there. Cael had not actually intended to join the Guard, but times were hard and they needed the money, so when the opportunity arose he took it. He quickly discovered a vocation. He and Layla never had children, a fact they grieved over but for which Cael is now grateful. Instead, he focused on his job and smoothly rose through the ranks until he was running his own Guard Tower. Layla, meanwhile, was content to be a homebody doing odd craftwork for neighbours and friends, and taking care of her husband. Since Layla's death, Cael has allowed his once carefully maintained appearance to slide. There is now more grey than ever shot through his uncombed hair and his haggard face and hollow eyes are hidden behind a wild beard and moustache. His uniform, once his pride and joy, has not been ironed in an age. Worse still, he went for several weeks without even cleaning it, though it seems he has fixed this error since the complaints started rolling in (if not quite as often as his co-workers would like). In recent years, Alexshire's Black Rose vampire cabal has made efforts to forge friendly ties with the local government. Despite his natural mistrust of vampires, due in large part to the stories he was reared on as a Therian, Cael was one of the first to give them the benefit of the doubt and he became their best advocate on the City Council. After his wife was killed, however, and it was decided that vampires were to blame, Cael ceased any and all activities in their favour, cutting all ties to the cabal. He also began a vendetta, using his position as Marshal of the Law to have all vampires within the shire tracked down and arrested. The most he was permitted to do with them once they were captured, without evidence of any wrongdoing on their part, was to eject and exile them from the shire, but several citizens - not all of them vampires - were injured during this period of civil unrest and others falsely accused of, and punished for, either being or harbouring vampires.
