Nikandros Phadra

Name: Priest Nikandros Phadra

Gender: Male

Age: 647

Race: Anyeli

Class: Apalos

Specialty: Warrior

Occupation: Priest of Xanth

Organisation: The Priesthood of Xanth

Description: Nikandros was once a member of the Asteri, an Anyeli special forces branch of the Polemichi (military). Having been orphaned by Skotadi at an early age and housed in the barracks of garrison town Kariton, he was raised to follow orders without question and truly believed in the Apali cause.

However, in his spare time, Nikandros liked to read, and in his work as an assassin, he came across plenty of old books — most of which belonged to his targets and so he was free to do with their possessions as he pleased. Over the years, he discovered a fascination for the arcane and forgotten, especially lore revolving around the creation of Elysia and Xanth herself.

When Nikandros was laid up for several months by a severe injury, and without a healer to put him back on his feet, he was loaned a scroll of religious lore by the granddaughter of an ex-Priestess. During their time together, she told him many stories passed on by her grandmother, and these wisdoms opened his eyes to the senselessness of the war. As soon as the Priesthood began making itself known once again, Nikandros was quick to sign on, bringing with him all the lore that his old friend — now deceased — had shared with him.

Nikandros is now a pacifist; a peaceful, quiet man interested only in learning what came before. His hawkish nose and craggy face, numerous scars and identifying tattoos are all that are left of his life as an assassin.
