Description: Iolus loathes his real name strongly enough to quite literally kill anyone who uses it (even attempting to have it struck off the records several times in the past), but he won't talk about the why and still thinks of himself by his real name.

Finding himself responsible for carrying personal tokens home for those who died in battle, he was nicknamed Styx and, while uncomfortable with the connotations, much preferred it over his real name so it stuck. He now uses it to great effect to scare fledglings during their initial training.

After serving well on the battle field as a young man, he was promoted and served as a captain of the Palace Guard. However, he was unsatisfied with the cushy lifestyle (when compared to the suffering he saw of men and women in combat) and so he returned to the battlefront as a soldier until suffering a knee injury that forced him to take permanent medical leave - which is a fact he's still bitter about to this day.

His skill as a warrior earned him a job as a battle instructor at the palace where he still teaches despite being well past retirement age, his grip on his position being largely thanks to his friendship with ex-Archangel Dazadi Rhea who refused to consider "putting him out to pasture" while there was "still life in the old dog".

Iolus doesn't suffer fools gladly and is always frank to the point of being brutal. He's a proud man, and has fought most of his life for peace even though he understands in his gut that it will never last.
