Some among Caiden’s acquaintance call him naive, whereas others commend him for his faith in humanity, but all agree that Caiden Mays is an easygoing, honest man with a kindly nature and a strong work ethic that makes up for an occasional lack of competence. Given his occupation as a member of Espur’s town guard Caiden is no stranger to crime and misfortune, and sometimes he struggles to reconcile this reality with his rose-tinged view of the world, at times attempting to outright ignore brewing trouble even at its most obvious. He is not a violent person, and prefers to resolve problems through diplomatic efforts, or defensive elemental manipulation.

His voice is deep and rather at odds with his willowy figure and feminine features, barring a jaw with a distinctly masculine shape. Caiden dresses simply, and has his blonde hair closely shaven to suit. This hairstyle is one of many ways in which Caiden attempts to enhance his masculinity, the others revolving around behavioural and lingual stereotypes.

Caiden has a bonded companion by the name of Leila, a female Windfur. Before meeting Caiden, Leila spent several years in the hold of poachers who kept her in conditions that encouraged her to reproduce, so that they could kill the offspring (in order to sell the fur). The poachers deemed Leila’s fur to be of “too low a quality” to kill for, being thin and with a dermal layer of an unpopular grey shade. Caiden met Leila when he and other members of the guard busted the poaching operation, during which the pair fell into a close friendship that developed into a bonded companionship. Leila is very protective of Caiden, and reacts with timidity when encountering other creatures and humanoids. For all Caiden’s care and grooming Leila’s fur is still naturally shabby, but as she spends most of her time either hiding in Caiden’s clothes or flying high in the air her aged appearance is not always obvious.
