Encyclopaedia ElysiaHello, and welcome to EF's wiki, your one-stop shop for everything you need to know about our world! :D The Site"The expanse before us glittered like blue gold beneath the shining sun as far west and east as our eyes could see; we knew, by the smell of the brine and the cry of the griffin, that we had reached the shores of the Ao Sea." ~ The Tomes of Alandria the Sage, Book IV
Elysian Fields is an original, somewhat eclectic fantasy founded back on the 5th of July, 2006. It's a play-by-post roleplaying site that uses Invision Power Board (IPB) forum software to bring you into the game. EF is rated PG-13 (with allowances for mature threads) and provides a fun and friendly atmosphere for roleplayers of all ages and levels of experience. We operate on a power system that keeps characters balanced, but we value freedom and the ability to have fun in a flexible community. Whether you're passionate about roleplaying, or just want to enjoy a fun and easy-going experience, you're welcome to join us! Elysian Fields is a vastly open world where you make up the current events. We have occasional plots and quests to keep things interesting and draw the members together as a whole, but it's up to you what happens to your character. Everything you do and say has some impact on the world or someone in it, just as your actions will have consequences of one sort or another. Your characters. Your creations. Your game. The Setting"From here atop Griffin's Peak, the Spine of Elysia stretched darkly before us against the backdrop of the twilight sky, and the sun set in an orange blaze behind the mountain…" ~ The Tomes of Alandria the Sage, Book II
EF is set mainly in Elysia, one of three (known) realms created by a self-proclaimed goddess named Xanth. More advanced than Earth in some ways, having over 3,000 years to develop, Elysia nevertheless still relies heavily on beasts of burden and traditional, family-run, eco-friendly cottage industries. Towns are few and far between and the wilderness, though beautiful and untouched, is riddled with dangerous predators and criminals. But there's more at work here in Elysia than meets the eye. The realms only exist because the dragons could no longer tolerate the humans' arrogance, setting into motion a chain of events that, along with Xanth's boredom, led to the creation of several non-human species — all with their own extraordinary abilities and told to share. Yet the Seven Races have more or less thrived here under Xanth's watchful gaze, even though Elysia has never been the paradise it was intended to be. It's home, and it's wild, and it's breath-taking — but mind your step. << | Newbie | Getting Started >> Page last modified on May 19, 2011, at 06:52 AM |
