Gold-Crested Dolphin

Name: Gold-Crested Dolphin

Type: Aquatic

Size: Medium

Region: Aquatic, specifically in the Ao Sea

Rarity: Common

Lifespan: 2-4 years

Appearance

The gold-crested dolphin is an indigo-hued dolphin that is between three and four feet in body length at adulthood. Its name comes from the shimmering gold that edges its tail and the three-layered frothy dorsal fins. The eyes are also gold and the creature's skin has a golden shimmer that catches the sunlight when it leaps out of the water, making it a beautiful sight to behold.

Behaviour

Like many dolphins, the gold-crested is playful by nature and intelligent but, being smaller at only 3-4 feet in length, and living in smaller groups, is prey to more predators.

Diet: Fish, fish and more fish.

Habitat: It's found most often in the colder waters along the northern coast of Elysia's mainland, or the southern coast of Dardanos.

Special Information

Uses:

  • The sight of them hunting can lead fishermen to good fishing grounds. For that, they're considered good luck and figures of the gold-crested dolphin are often carved into the prow of fishing ships.
