Carser's Hound![]() Name: Carser's Hound Type: Mammalians Size: Medium Region: Grassland Lifespan: 8-10 years in the wild; 14-16 domesticated AppearanceCarsers have a similar body structure to a dog but with a frayed tail that flattens itself horizontally. It also has hulking joints at the shoulders and hips that protrude upwards a few inches in females and up to a foot in males. Unlike normal canines, their teeth are mostly flat with meager spikes on the front few for ripping food off. Their fur is very short, except for the tail, and as a whole very soft as well. From dog-like snout to rear, not counting the tail, they are typically 4-5 feet long with another foot of tail added on. Their coloring changes according to the pigmentation of their most recent food, causing varying colors and designs that adapt on a near daily basis. BehaviourCarsers are generally playful creatures, even in the wild. They only show aggression when threatened, or if someone attempts to interfere with their feeding. They do, however, feed often, eating up to ten times their body weight in one week. Diet: The carser's flattened teeth are extremely durable and their stomachs have the remarkable fortitude to allow them to eat any natural substance from meat to stone. Due to their voracious personalities, though, many a pet carser has been rushed to a healer due to trying to consume manmade materials such as glass or metal. Habitat: They're primarily found in the Sunset Foothills, but have also been known to live on the lower flanks of most Elysian and Dardanian mountains. Breeding: Carsers breed regularly in the spring, having a gestation of only about 2 to 3 months. Pups reach maturity at about 7 months, at which point they are fully able to hunt by themselves, although they still stay with their mother's pack. A carser pack typically only reaches about two dozen members due to the alpha sending away weak or overly aggressive members. Special InformationStrengths/Abilities:

Origin: The Carser's Hound receives its name from the explorer who discovered them, Miranda Carser, a young Zanaryan who was attempting to plot a new trade route through the Sunset Foothills when she inadvertently discovered a carser pup and nearly lost all of her supplies. The dogs are called "the garbage cans of Elysia" and were rumored to have been made by Xanth to consume the world's refuse. Creator: Russ Page last modified on August 14, 2011, at 09:21 AM |
