Halloween has always been an OOC-IC event, in that it's something our members sometimes wanted to celebrate and we did so with our characters in roleplay, but it's not really an Elysian holiday. Which is to say that we no longer have an IC Halloween event, but we have done in the past and they were immense fun.
Halloween Events
There were threads related to the 2006 event too. I'll add them when I get a chance to find them in the archives.
When writing up events, consider:
- When the festival takes place (try to use the Elysian calendar wherever possible, unless of course it's a Zanaryan or Dragon holiday in which case you should use their calendars instead)
- How long it lasts (a day, a week, a month?)
- When celebrating this event began (eg. a holiday to honour the heroes of a particular battle of the Anyeli Civil War might have begun the day after that battle). You don't *need* to include this; sometimes people just aren't certain when a festival first began, but it can give you an idea of how long the festival has been a part of society.
- Who celebrates the event? Just one race (eg. Nymphs), a single group (eg. the Priesthood of Xanth), or the entire realm(s)?
- Why do they celebrate? (eg. is it a day meant to honour the dead, a day to celebrate a particular victory, or a time of the year, etc)
- How do they celebrate? (ie. what happens on this day? eg. a bonfire, a feast, gift-giving, etc)
As long as you try to answer all of these questinos, you can format your event page however you like (eg. a form for picking out the detail easier, or paragraphs so it reads more naturally, etc). You can delete this comment once this page is complete.
